NO BAIL FOR TESHA MILLER

Tesha Miller refused bail

Tesha Miller, the alleged leader of the Clansman gang, was refused bail when he appeared before the Home Circuit Court Monday afternoon.

Mr. Miller has been remanded until March 19 next year.

An application for video link trial will be made at that time.

Two witnesses are scheduled to give testimony by video link.

Mr. Miller is charged with the 2008 murder of Douglas Chambers, who was chairman of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), at the Spanish Town depot.

During the bail hearing Monday morning, prosecutors reported that the witnesses will testify that Mr. Miller gave the order for Mr. Chambers to be killed.

Prosecutors reported that Mr. Miller gave the order after Mr. Chambers refused to pay extortion money to the criminal gang.

The prosecutors said the order was given to Andre Blackman Bryan to carry out the killing.

Bryan was tried for the murder but was acquitted by a jury.

Prosecutors strongly opposed bail on the grounds that Miller is a flight risk who previously absconded bail.

They reported that he has been travelling using the fake name, Marlon Williams, and has been deported from the US and the Bahamas.

The application for the video link trial is set for March 19, 2019.
