PERSONAL TRAINER FREED OF RAPE CHARGE

A St. Catherine based personal trainer who was accused of breaking into the home of a policewoman and attempting to rape her was freed of the charges on Tuesday.

Chaddane Harris, 25, was freed before the St. Catherine Parish Court following a no case submission by his attorney, Vincent Wellesley.

Mr. Harris was charged in April with assault with intent to rape and housebreaking following an incident in Edgewater, Portmore, St. Catherine.

Prosecutors reported that about 4 o’clock on the morning of April 25, the policewoman was in bed when she realised an intruder had entered her house.

She said he demanded s*x but she resisted.

The intruder fled.

The policewoman gave a description of the intruder to investigators and two hours later Mr. Harris was arrested while walking in Portmore.

During the trial, Mr. Wellesley challenged the credibility of the identification evidence.

He also challenged other evidence submitted by prosecutors.

The judge agreed and ordered that Mr. Harris be released.

  1. Based on what the “victim” claims, the accused entered her house at about 4 am. The accused challenged what was presented in court. I’m pretty sure when it’s 4 am here in Jamaica, it’s pretty dark so how was the “victim” able to provide identification evidence? I think that’s mainly what he challenged and the judge saw the truth in what the accused presented and released him.
