POLICE STEALS PHONE AND MONEY FROM MURDER SUSPECT

A police constable, charged with stealing a phone and cash from a murder suspect at the Half-Way-Tree lock-up, was released on bond on Wednesday.

Constable Warren Hoilett was offered bail in the sum of $400,000 when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court.

He was charged following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigators reported that, in September last year, the constable who was assigned to the lock-up, collected a cell phone and $3,500 from the girlfriend of the murder suspect. However, he failed to hand over the contraband to the prisoner.

The woman then filed a report with the authorities and this led to an investigation.

Vincent Wellesley, Constable Hoilett’s attorney, on Wednesday challenged the decision of the DPP to rule against his client.

He urged the prosecutor to review the file as his client was charged without being placed on an identification parade.

Constable Hoilett is to return to court on July 11.

  1. Maybe I’m how do you give a Policeman a phone (& money) to give to a prisoner? Is a Phone even allowed in prison? I do know phones are illegally smuggled into prison, so was this an attempt to bride the Policeman to smuggled the phone in?

  2. I hope the gal a go jail too. We should still a do penal caning. That shit man need fi get wet cane till him pass out!

This is a regular thing for him and a reason why victims can’t get court house justice.
