Trial stalled for cop charged with fraudulent conversion
The trial of a policeman charged with fraudulent conversion encountered a setback in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court on Wednesday.
The court was told that the matter could not begin as the investigating officer was on leave.
Constable Brian Williams, who was attached to the St. Elizabeth Police Division, had his bail extended until October 9.
Mr. Williams was arrested in 2012 after an audit revealed that he used a police advance card to purchase more than $80,000 worth of petrol for his private motorcar.
The court was told that the eleven witnesses in the case have dwindled to seven.
