The prosecution has withdrawn the charge of resisting arrest against retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Altemorth “Parro” Campbell, who was involved in a controversial pepper spraying incident along Molynes Road in St. Andrew last month.

The other matters will be transferred to the Traffic Court.

Mr. Campbell appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court Friday morning to answer charges under the Road Traffic Act and the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act.

He was charged with four counts under the Road Traffic Act and one count under the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act.

The owner of the vehicle Mr. Campbell was driving, Muriel Chambers, has also been charged. Ms Chambers has been charged with aiding and abetting.

Mr. Campbell will now answer only to four charges under Road Traffic Act, namely, careless driving, driving without seat belt, disobeying a constable’s command and no insurance.

The charges are in relation to the traffic stop on Molynes Road during which Mr. Campbell was pepper sprayed.

The matter will be mentioned in the traffic court on July 30.
