Alleged 90’s Gang leader captured during police operation in St.Ann

Radio Jamaica News understands that a man suspected to be a major player in the importation of illegal guns into the island was captured this morning in a police operation in St Ann.

The suspect, who is the alleged leader of the 90’s gang based in Central Kingston and New York City, was nabbed this morning at a party in Priory, St Ann.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Unit (C-TOC), and US law enforcement agents carried out the operation sometime after three o’clock.

Several other persons were detained in the operation.

It’s understood that the suspect, who is a licensed firearm holder, was deported to Jamaica in 2009 after serving time in the US on drug trafficking charges.

He is under investigation for the seizure of 21 illegal guns and 2,216 rounds of ammunition at the Queens warehouse on Industrial Terrace in March.

Three high-powered M15 rifles and 18 handguns were among the weapons seized in addition to 51 magazines.

The Police High Command had reported that one of the magazines seized could hold 100 rounds of ammunition.

Two men from the United States were charged in connection with the seizure.

The two accused, 36-year-old Jermaine Baker, a chef from Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, and 42-year-old Dervan Brown from Bronx, New York have been charged with the illegal importation of firearms and ammunition.

  1. Didn’t know Rev is from St. Elizabeth. It seems he wield a lot of power in Jamaica, with many links up and down the political and security chain.
