After failing the Olympic trials for Rio,Jamaican born sprinter for the U.S Sanya Richards posted the following on her Instagram account,
How do you say goodbye? How do you walk away from the part of you that has brought you immeasurable joy. The last 24 years were exceedingly sweet because of the sport of track and field. I’ve lived because I poured my very heart and soul into this special sport. I’ve experienced the very best the sport had to offer and grown because of the toughest parts. Will I miss it…. YES! But the best parts of my sport live with me forever. The relationships, the memories, the support. Thank you ALL for loving me every step of the way. The heart and the mind were willing but the body just wasn’t able! #SRRFinalLap.
Richards-Ross was born in Jamaica but migrated to the U.S as a child and won gold in the last Olympics for the U.S. The sprinter will be working with NBC’s Olympic team.
”It’s official!!!!! I’ll be joining the @nbcolympics family. I couldn’t even sleep last night…. Butterflies in my stomach and it felt awesome. Many times we get stuck in one place because it’s comfortable but life is about challenging ourselves in new ways, and embracing new opportunities. I hope this is the start of a fun new chapter in the life of #SRR! Tune in 3-5 PST on @nbcsports and 5-6PST on @nbctv. See you soon 😘😘 #TeamSRR”
Good for her that she has decided to move on & do something else, which fortunately for her is tracks related.
However, after watching her reality show I can’t help but feel that maybe if she had spent less time gripping about money, how her family couldn’t survive without her money, running around like a headless chicken trying to control everyone & did what her dad/coach asked, her injury would have properly healed & her body would’ve been ready for the Olympics.
Thank goodness it ended…the mom was unbearable and Sanya and the husband annoying.
