A man said to be a prime suspect in the violence in the Mountain View Avenue/Rockfort area is in hospital under police guard.
He was injured last week during a shootout between rival gunmen from Jarrett Lane and Oliver Road.
Superintendent Victor Hamilton, head of the Kingston Eastern Police Division, told RJR News that the man is under investigation.
Superintendent Hamilton declined to give details.
However, checks by RJR News revealed that the violence in the East Kingston communities has escalated since the man was shot.
According to a senior investigator, the suspect, who is aligned to Jarrett Lane, is also under investigation for other shootings in East Kingston.
He is also a person of interest in St. James based on his alleged connection to a gang in Flanker.
Why is his identity being withheld?
