A taxi operator was on Friday, April 15, arrested and charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence.
He is 46-year-old Curtis Palmer of an Olympic Way, Kingston 11 address.
Reports are that in 2015, Palmer posed as a Jamaica Customs Department employee and convinced the complainant that he could obtain a motor car on her behalf by way of an auction.
It is alleged that the complainant then paid over the sum of J$50,000 in return for the promised motor car.
However, Palmer failed to hand over the motor car and the complainant later discovered that he had reportedly lied about his occupation.
The police say a report was made to the Fraud Squad and following an investigation, Palmer was arrested and charged.
He is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
