TROUPE SEH DI WOMAN LEF DI WORK SUDDENLY

It is now confirmed that a further probe is to be carried out into the employment status of the woman who is being investigated in connection with last month’s intercepted shipment of arms and ammunition from Miami to Jamaica.

The woman is in the records of the St. James Municipal Corporation as the personal assistant of Councillor for the Granville Division Michael Troupe.

Homer Davis, Chairman of the Corporation, on Wednesday received the report he requested to ascertain if she is still employed to Mr. Troupe.

According to the report, the woman had been employed in August, September as well as October, and received $25,000 for each month based on information on a claim sheet.

Mr. Davis said now that he is in receipt of the report, he will send a copy to Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie for his instruction on how to proceed.

Mr. Troupe’s attorney, Henry McCurdy, last week disclosed that the woman was a former employee who suddenly left the job three months ago.

Strong action

Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie has threatened strong action if the investigation reveals anything untoward in the employment of Michael Troupe’s assistant.

“If I believe that the programme is being undermined in any way, shape or form, I will have no hesitation whatsoever in suspending the programme,” he declared.

He was speaking Wednesday night at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Black River, St. Elizabeth.
