A 48-year-old woman died in the Bronx from an illegal buttocks injection — and her death has been deemed a homicide, officials said Tuesday.
Leslie Ayala visited the city from Philadelphia for the risky procedure. She went into cardiac arrest at the home of a friend she was staying with on Seward Ave. in Castle Hill on June 17 while recovering from the injection, officials said.

Medics rushed her to Jacobi Hospital, but she couldn’t be saved.
The city’s Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. No arrests have been made.
A spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner said Ayala died of “systemic silicone embolism syndrome due to cosmetic silicone injections of buttocks and thighs.”
If not done by a properly trained and licensed physician, silicone injections can cause embolisms that can stop a patient’s heart. Sources said Ayala had received buttocks injections in the past as well.
