My Husband Is Randy, Impregnated His Brother’s Wife, Woman Tells Court

Oja Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State has ended the relationship between a woman, Taiwo Adedeji, and her husband, Sikiru Adedeji.

Taiwo who brought a divorce suit against her husband, alleged that he was irresponsible, troublesome and a brute. She added that he was morally debased.

The plaintiff told the court that her husband impregnated his brother’s wife.

Taiwo stated that her husband’s shameless act had exposed her to ridicule and shame among neighbours and friends. She thus prayed for divorce.

She further appealed to the court to restrain him from coming to harass or fight her at her residence or work place.

Sikiru failed to show up in court after being served a court summon and hearing.

Giving her evidence, Taiwo told the court, “My lord, I curse the day I met my husband. If I had the opportunity then of seeing what laid in the future, I would not have gone into wedlock with him.

“He presented himself as a gentleman when we started dating but he started showing his real self shortly after we got married.

“My lord, I realised he had been living on lies.

“He has no stable job and therefore lacks the ability to run the home as it is expected of him. I took up his responsibility very early in our marriage and had since been the breadwinner.

“I feed and clothe him and our children from my meager salary and also shoulder the responsibility of our children’s education. He has never contributed a dime in these regard.

“Rather than look for a means of livelihood, he spends almost the whole day sleeping and when it’s evening time, he takes his bath and would loaf around in the neighbourhood.

“Anytime I complain about his lackadaisical attitude to life, he goes irate, pounces on me and beats the hell out of me. He’s a brute and in the habit of punching me whenever we have a misunderstanding.

“He feels threatened and frustrated because of his jobless state and would always ensure he makes life difficult for me. He raises arguments over trivial issues and ensures I enjoy no peace in the home.

“Sikiru has a caustic tongue and uses this to pull me down rather than show appreciation for covering his shame.

“He once provoked me and we fought. He beat me mercilessly, tore my clothes and sent me out naked. It was one of our neighbours who gave me her wrapper to cover my nakedness.

He beat me to a state of coma, walked out on our marriage —Wife
“My husband is randy. The only art he’s skillful in is making love to young girls in the neighbourhood. There have been shameful reports of his escapades with these girls which have brought shame and disgrace unto me in particular.

“My lord, the worst of my husband’s shameful act was his illicit affair with his brother’s wife. He was secretly sleeping with her but the cat was let out of the bag when he impregnated her.

“I have faced enough humiliation and embarrassment as a result of my husband’s irresponsible lifestyle. It is better to live alone without a husband than to be yoked to a man whose primary assignment is to run after anything in skirt.

“My lord, I earnestly pray for divorce,” she concluded.

Giving his judgment after hearing the evidence of the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade, stated that it was glaring that there was no more love between the couple.

According to him, the refusal of the defendant to honour the court’s summons shows he was not interested in saving his marriage.

Ruling, Odunade dissolved their union and handed over their two children to the plaintiff for proper care.

He ordered the defendant to pay a monthly sum of N10, 000 through the court as their children’s feeding allowance. He was also mandated to be responsible for their education and health care.

The plaintiff was asked to give the defendant a copy of the judgment.

  1. Nobody cares about Africa I know you’re African and all with a fascination for Jamaicans but we don’t care about what happens in Africa
