A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Matero township has been dragged to court by her husband after being caught engaging in sex with her lover in their home.
John Phiri, 36, said despite being caught, his wife Angela Phiri, 30, has continued the relationship with her lover who showers her with gifts such as jewellery. He said Angela’s lover also gives her money and has also bought her an i-Phone 6.
John told Matero Local Court magistrates Lewis Mumba and Pauline Newa that problems in their marriage started when she enrolled for college.
John has sued his wife Angela, who he married in 2008 although no bride price was paid, for divorce. They have no children together.
“She can afford all these luxuries because her lover is a diplomat. She brings him into our home telling our neighbours that the man is my nephew. My wife tells her mates from college that she is single,” he said.
John complained that Angela no longer behaves like a married woman but more like a prostitute.
“I am now a laughing stock in my community because of her behaviour. I am fed up. There is no intimacy between us because she also denies me my conjugal rights. She threatens to squeeze my private parts when I try to make advances in bed,” he said.
But Angela told the court that her husband is a jealous man who constantly monitors her movements.
“He tells me that he no longer finds me sexually appealing that’s why I seek attention elsewhere from my friends,” she said.
The court granted divorce and ordered John to pay Angela K10, 000 as compensation with an initial instalment of K3,000 starting January month-end.
