huh

Victoria Falls woman who could not stomach the fact that her hubby of six years had left her for another woman, allegedly consulted an inyanga and “locked” his manhood so he would not engage in sex with any other woman.
Lindani Mathuthu, 36, of 3129 Chinotimba Township, last week narrated in court how he found his underwear with a locked padlock in his bedroom.

Mathuthu said this while defending himself against a charge of physical abuse filed by his former wife Faith Ndlovu, 25, as he claimed she filed the charges to fix him for leaving her.

Mathuthu told Victoria Falls magistrate Sharon Rosemani that he has not been able to have sex with his new lover for three months as his manhood is “locked”.

“I never assaulted her. We were arguing when I asked her why she went to consult an inyanga or prophet to lock me. This was after I saw my underwear with a padlock.

“When I asked her, she denied that she went to an inyanga, claiming she was advised by her friends to lock me. She confessed she did it herself and I was only pleading with her to unlock me because it has affected me,” said Mathuthu.

The couple has a six year-old son from their six years of customary marriage. They broke up three months ago.

Mathuthu said his wife was out to fix him for leaving her.

“I wouldn’t have beaten her knowing it wouldn’t help me. I saw my underwear and a padlock in the room and questioned her about it. She was bragging that she wanted to fix me and make me lose my job and my girlfriend,” he told the court.

“She lied about the physical abuse charges because I had indicated to her that I would report her to the police if she refused to unlock me.”

The State will seek to prove that Mathuthu tried to twist his wife’s neck and assaulted her with fists several times until she fled and spent a night at her mother’s place.

However, Mathuthu claims the woman could not explain where she slept.

“Why would your wife lie against you? I put it to you that you beat her up and twisted her neck,” said prosecutor Takunda Ndovorwi.

The couple has had marital problems and Mathuthu was a few months ago fined for assaulting Ndlovu.

It is alleged that on September 12 last year, the two had a misunderstanding over the complainant’s infidelity after she did not sleep at home.

Mathuthu demanded to know where she had spent the night leading to the alleged assault. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck before punching her several times on the face. She went to report to the police.
The magistrate remanded Mathuthu out of custody on his own cognizance and was was told to bring his witnesses to corroborate his defence in court.
