A Victoria Falls man was admitted to hospital after his girlfriend stabbed him with a knife for asking her about an affair she was allegedly having with another man.

Raymond Nyoni, 20, of Mkhosana suburb was admitted to Victoria Falls Hospital after Sithandazile Sibanda, 25, teamed up with her niece, who was not named in court, to stab him following an argument about her two-timing.

A court heard how Sibanda’s niece pinioned his arms while Sibanda plunged the knife into his chest and neck. Passersby, the court heard, rescued a screaming Nyoni from a ballistic Sibanda. She appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje facing physical abuse charges.

Gakanje convicted Sibanda on her own plea of guilty and sentenced her to a wholly suspended two months imprisonment, on condition that she performs 70 hours community service at ZRP Camp Clinic.

The magistrate said she was commuting the sentence because Nyoni had submitted an affidavit saying he wanted to withdraw the charges.

“We’ve talked about the incident and she apologised to me showing that she was sorry for what she did.

“I’m forgiving her because I love her and I don’t think I can live with the issue of her being sent to jail because of me,” he said.

Prosecuting, Takunda Ndovorwi told the court that on October 22 at 6PM the two went to spend the night at Sibanda’s home.

“The two started arguing as the complainant said Sibanda was cheating on him.

“When she admitted to cheating, Nyoni got angry and slapped her on the cheek and Sibanda fought back,” Ndovorwi said.

The court heard that Sibanda asked for a knife from her niece.

“She asked her niece to hold his arms and took the knife and stabbed him on the neck and on the chest,” the prosecutor said.

A passersby advised Nyoni to report the matter to the police, Ndovorwi told the court.
