YOU CAN FORSAKE WORDLY PLEASURES
But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’ Daniel 7:18
Do not live your life as if your life begins and ends here on earth. Actually the reason why a lot of people live carelessly and recklessly is because they think they have just one life to live here on earth and they must “enjoy” it to the fullest. So they drink alcohol excessively because they believe when they die life comes to an end. Some people spend their hard earned resources chasing and acquiring women for themselves because they think they have to enjoy themselves before they die.
That mentality depicts the height of hopelessness. They have no hope because they do not have Jesus. If you do not have Jesus, life is meaningless and hopeless; take advantage of the ministry of evangelists in the streets or churches all around you and surrender to Him so that He might come and live in you by His spirit. Then you can be like those who have Him and are spending time to meditate with this devotional. Then you can have the hope and the promise that Daniel talks about in today’s scripture; you will inherit a kingdom in which you will rule forever and ever. It is our inheritance in Christ that inspires and empowers us to live and die for Him. The hope of this inheritance makes us forsake worldly pleasures because they do not measure up to the joy that is set before us.
Liberation thought: I have decided to follow Jesus, I won’t go back to the way I used to live.
