Two men are dead after a collision and fiery crash just off a Bronx highway early Thursday, authorities said.
According to police, around 1:30 a.m. a man driving northbound on the Bronx River Parkway was speeding as he got off the highway at East Gun Hill Road, then struck a pedestrian while exiting the off ramp.
Upon hitting the man in the street, the driver lost control of the Dodge Challenger and it careened into a concrete wall before bursting into flames, police said.
Officers responding to the 911 call for the crash first discovered the driver in the burning car, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene, officials said.
Responding officers also found the pedestrian laying in the road, unconscious and unresponsive, close to the car, police said.
Authorities said the man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead as well.
Neither of the men has been identified. The investigation remains ongoing, according to they NYPD.
