A 13-year-old schoolgirl was rescued by police from a house in east Trinidad where she had been taken by a man who raped and buggered her.
The girl was dressed in her school uniform when they found her.
Around 3 p.m. officers of the Eastern Division Task Force and Rio Claro CID received information and went to the house.
Police said that the 27-year-old suspect was detained after the man told of the assault.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Sangre Grande Police Station where he was to be handed over to officers of the Child Protection Unit.
The schoolgirl was taken for a medical examination and was to be interviewed by CPU officers.

I am sorry for the child and rape victims EVERY WHERE. Poor child , what trauma she must have suffered. I am glad they found her alive,for I am still weeping for the 15 year old school girl they found dead in Jamaica yesterday.
