The 13 year-old boy who is accused of the murder of nine year-old Kadijah Saunders in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, was remanded Wednesday when he made his first court appearance.
He was remanded to a place of safety until he returns to court on July 25.
The boy was charged last week following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He was taken into custody three weeks ago after Kadijah’s body was found in bushes along the Bog main road.
She went missing on June 5 after leaving school in Brontie, Westmoreland.
A post mortem revealed that she was raped and strangled.
Investigators reported that Kadijah was last seen in the company of the teenager as they left school.
They both lived in the same community
