Fifteen-year-old Andre Taylor was shot a total of 37 times by unknown assailants on Carnival Saturday, killing him instantly.
Taylor was positively identified yesterday by relatives who visited the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park.
According to police reports, at about 7.45 p.m. on Saturday, Belmont police officers were on duty when they heard gunshots in the area.
Officers went to the scene where they found the body of an Afro-Trinidadian male lying motionless along Argyle Street.
The boy’s body bore gunshot wounds to the head, chest, back and both hands.
The scene was cordoned off and several spent shells were recovered.
Speaking to the Express yesterday, relatives said Taylor lived in Chaguanas and had left home on Friday to visit relatives along St Paul Street, Laventille, where he intended to stay for Carnival celebrations.
They said they didn’t know how the teenager ended up on Argyle Street, nor why anyone would have reason to shoot him 37 times.
Taylor, they said, was a cool-going individual, who enjoyed life.
It was emphasised as far as they were aware, the teenager was not involved in any gang- related activities.
Only a demonic person would shoot someone so so many times. This was obviously beyond personal !
I hope they find the culprit . A child ? What could he have done to awake the anger of those spirits ?
Basically they destroyed and the defiled his body with all those bullet holes . Tragic and wicked crime .
R. I. P There has to be more to this 37 shots. Such a shame that they had to emphasize “Afro-Trinidadian”. I guess him dying wasn’t good enough.

I have never in my life heard the term Afro-Trinidadian before. This is not the right post to comment further about that….just wow.
It’s crazy that instead of the news saying a young life was taking they had to make it a point that his African decent because of the color of his skin… Our own people stereotype us by the darkness of our skin, now if he was fair skin what would he be called then… It’s just crazy R.I.P. young man…
