The body of a woman was found on Mountain View Avenue in St. Andrew Tuesday morning.
The partially nude body, which had stab wounds, is that of a woman in her 20s.
The body, which is of dark complexion with braided hair, was seen a short distance from the Mountain View police station.
Superintendent Victor Hamilton, head of the East Kingston Police, said preliminary investigations suggest that the body was dumped in the area.
He said residents have reported that the woman is not from the community.
The police are trying to ascertain her identity.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Hamilton said the police are still maintaining a strong presence in the Jarrett Lane and Oliver Road communities following Sunday’s gun battle between cops and gunmen.
He told RJR News that the police have been conducting operations in search of the gunmen and illegal guns.
The Police High Command deployed reinforcements to the area on Sunday after five cops were under attack from gunmen for almost two hours.
