ANJU BLAXXX ORDERED DETAINED PENDING TRIAL

534367_1421112581438813_189455149_nEIGHT days after being ordered released in a Florida court, Jamaican music producer Andrew ‘Anju Blaxxx’ Myrie had that decision overturned by a North Dakota judge, on Wednesday.
Blaxxx has been ordered detained pending trial. The 30-year-old is charged with conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering in the District of North Dakota.
According to a court order from North Dakota District Judge Daniel L Hovland, Blaxxx “poses a substantial flight risk”.
He added: “The court has conducted a de novo review of the record, including the transcript of the pre-trial detention/removal hearing, and finds the Government [North Dakota Federal prosecutors] has demonstrated the defendant [Myrie] poses a substantial flight risk and no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure [his] appearance in the District of North Dakota,” the order, read in part.
“The court notes the defendant [Myrie] is subject to an immigration detainer and possible removal to Jamaica,” the order continued.
The producer was arrested by American law enforcement officers in Florida on February 6.
He was ordered released at his second detention/removal hearing in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Miami, on February 11.
That move was “stayed” pending an appeal by North Dakota prosecutors.
“So, it never took place. He was being detained pending the outcome of the appeal,” said a Florida court employee, who wished not to be identified.
“And now that the judge has revoked the release order, he’ll be transported to North Dakota for arraignment in a matter of weeks. A trial date will be set in that state,” the employee continued.
Several attempts to contact Myrie’s attorney, Nathan P Diamond, were unsuccessful.
Myrie is CEO of UIM Records, and one of dancehall’s leading producers. His hits include Bugle’s No Compatible as well as the Punjabi, Purge, Sanction, Journey, Beach Bunx, Coolie Gal, Nymphomaniac, and Klappaz rhythms.
