The band leader told me just shave and wear tights and made a joke about how us mixed race people (including herself) have a big you know what. Based on my experience of playing mas in TNT, she was not comfortable but gave in to people saying there would be worse on the road hence bothering to address John Q. Public. Long and short, she should have got 1 size bigger for her Monday wear. She looked okay on the road today.

Before you say this, do some more research on the origins of Carne Vale. You’ll learn that it IS indeed a celebration that ostracized the poor commoner or as we call them today “downtown” people. Remnants of the practice of excluding certain racial groups or social groups from the celebrations still remains in today’s society, though more “lower class” people participate. In other words, it pass down from generation to generation say carnival is a upt ting. This exclusion is evident in the pricing of the costumes, etc. (Capitalism in action?? LOL I kid.) Even in Brazil’s carnival celebration there is racial segregation.
