JAMAICAN AND CANADIAN ON DRUG CHARGES IN BERMUDA

Jamaican, 2 Canadians on drug charges in Bermuda

A 33-year-old Jamaican man appeared in a Magistrate’s Court Monday on a count of conspiring with others to supply the controlled drug, Fentanyl.

Maurice Martin was not required to enter a plea in relation to the charge that between an unknown date and December 20, he conspired with two Canadians to supply 256 grams of the drug.

He was released on US$150,000 bail with a surety, on condition he surrenders all travel documents and reports to the Hamilton Police Station on a daily basis.

Legal sources said he is expected to appear before the Supreme Court in March.

Two Canadians — Jacqueline Robinson, 25, from Courtice, Ontario, and Craig Lawrence, 35, from Markham, Ontario — have already been charged in connection with the same incident.

Both Robinson and Lawrence are charged with conspiring to import the controlled drug, while Lawrence was further charged with possessing Fentanyl on December 20 with intent to supply.
