JAMAICAN DEPORTED FROM BERMUDA

Jailbreak

Robert George McFarlane, a 46-year-old Jamaican living in Bermuda illegally, has been apprehended and deported.

Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy on Friday announced that McFarlane was caught in less than four days after the Department of Immigration posted a “Wanted Person” poster on its web site.

According to Fahy, the quick apprehension of McFarlane showed that the public supported the department in its quest to clamp down on those who remain on the island illegally.

Fahy thanked the public for coming forward and providing details relating to the whereabouts of McFarlane.

All leads were helpful and allowed immigration officers to act expeditiously, he said.

McFarlane left Bermuda on Thursday.

The public has been encouraged to continue to contact the department with information about foreign nationals who are alleged to be in Bermuda illegally without permission.
