A traffic stop due to an expired inspection sticker resulted in a large seizure of illegal drugs.

According to a press release from the Vermont State Police, at 3:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, the Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 11 in Peru. During the stop, troopers detected the odor of burnt marijuana. A search of the vehicle turned up 480 bags of heroin, 50 grams of crack cocaine, 15 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of an unknown substance believed to be narcotics, 10mg of marijuana, $833 in U.S. currency and $1,500 in Jamaican currency.

The people in the vehicle were all arrested and cited with felony trafficking of heroin and cocaine with intent to distribute: Kwesi Wilson, 30, and Tanya Parker, 26, both of Londonderry; and Kenil Forrester, 34, and Melinda Forbes, 24, both of Hartford, Conn. All four were ordered held for arraignment on Aug. 18. Wilson was found to be on supervised release in the state of Vermont and Forrester was on probation in Connecticut. The drugs are suspected of being transported from Hartford for sale in Vermont.
