Held with item in early morning incident
Swift action by community members resulted in the capture of a man who was seen removing fencing from a church in Eltham in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The Star was informed that about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, the man was observed in a Toyota pick-up with a chain link fence inside. It was also observed that about 50 meters of the fence was removed from the Eltham Baptist Church in the community.
The man was reportedly accosted and held by several residents until the police came and took him into custody. The Star was informed that an accomplices rode away on a waiting motor cycle.
In his defence, the suspect said that he was chartered to remove items and did not know of the theft.
His name is being withheld by the police pending further investigation.

They stole the lighting rod from a building. Yep, a lightning rod. It’s the scrap metal ppl going around stealing these things. Thank goodness the residents held this person and stood up for something. So sick of these parasites destroying everything in sight. Dem always want everything nice and improvement and as soon as it come destroy it, dung to di school taps they steal.
