MAN WHO WAS RESCUED BY MP KILLED

Man rescued by MP murdered in St Thomas

Rameish Simpson, the colourful Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) activist who was once rescued from police by member of parliament James Robertson, has been killed.

Simpson was shot and killed at his home in Logwood, St Thomas on Thursday night. His wife, who was also shot and injured, was rushed to the hospital.

It is reported that about 9 p.m. the Simpsons had just pulled up at their home when Rameish stepped out the vehicle to open the gate.

He was allegedly attacked and shot multiple times, killing him on the spot. His wife was later shot and injured after she ran from the vehicle.

The men reportedly set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene.

Simpson came to national attention in 2009 after Robertson, member of parliament for West St Thomas and then minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, made the 45-minute journey from Kingston to St Thomas to rescue him from police.

Robertson said Simpson was targeted by the police because he had information about their involvement in serious crimes in St Thomas.

“I have no problem. I should be knighted. A man would be dead with lies told on him,” Robertson told The Gleaner at the time.

“It is with the police’s knowledge that I went out to save this man who was helping the police with an investigation (and who was almost killed).”

Following the incident, the MP was charged with using abusive language at a police team. The case was dropped after Robertson apologized to the police and the court for his action on the day of the incident and promised there would not be a reoccurrence.

Simpson again made local news in 2015 after he and his cousin were arrested and charged with the illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following reports from the police that they removed the items from a van which Rameish, in seeking to elude the police, drove into the sea.

The items were allegedly fished from the sea following what the police described as a high-speed chase, which ended with Rameish driving his vehicle into the sea in the vicinity of Grants Pen, St Thomas.

Both men were offered bail and had restrictions imposed on their movements.

In granting bail, Resident Magistrate Calise Wiltshire had said claims from the prosecution that Rameish was part of a criminal gang in St Thomas was not enough reason to deny bail.

  1. Rameish Simpson was living on borrowed time and have gotten off murder and rape charges (young teens) over the years. Sorry son, dirty/corrupt MP Robertson couldn’t save you this time around.

  2. If my memory serves me correctly wasn’t he also the main culprit in the watch heist in that swiss store downtown kingston couple of years back? whatever become of that case even though it doesn’t matter now.

    1. No, Ramjam, it is the other criminal individual from St. Thomas who was aligned with MP Robertson and they had a falling out. That JLP Activist was Kayon ‘Treasure’ Campbell. In fact, it was said that the corrupt MP, James Robertson, put out a hit on Kayon ‘Treasure’ Campbell.

Good question though, what became of that case against Treasure?

The MP also put out a hit on one of his other cronies (Ian Johnson), which cause the MP and his wife to lose his US Visa. That guy I think is back in the US seek asylum, after his mother was killed in Jamaica because of him. Treasure was also charge with attempted murder of Ian Johnson, allegedly, on orders from Robertson.

  3. Ian Johnson comment about a murder that the MP ordered and who carried out the murder….The MP later left his residence late at night to rescue the murderer, who the Police had cornered and was about to move in to finish the job. The MP later cause a number of senior police officers to be transferred from St. Thomas, by spreading (false) rumors about them and attempt to implicate these officers in drug trafficking. According to Wikileaks, this same MP was involved in drug trafficking an a large scale and his father had to payoff drug debts to one of Jamaica’s Drug Kingpin.

There is no hell or devil, the devil is in Jamaicas parliament. Politician remember the day I met you at Jamaica house in your office and accused you of killing Everton, remember when I told you the name of the shooter, someone the police question for that murder, you cursed me out for accusing you of the crime, and told me Everton was like a son to you, and less than 2 weeks after you left your office in Kingston to rescue the same man I accused as the killer from the police in a shootout with the police. The devil is real, he is here in Jamaica, not with a horn, just here as a very short bald headed man.

  4. Wouldn’t be surprise if James Robertson, the MP, had a hand in the assignation of of his assassin, Rameish Simpson. Simpson hold a lot of secrets for Robertson and was a serious threat to the former Minister.

  5. Thanks Anonymous 9:56 for clarifying the mixup! one thing is for certain though! that particular mp is nothing but a fat rat that hopefully one day will get caught in the trap.
