MESSADO AND HAR CONFEDERATE GRANTED BAIL

Attorney Jennifer Messado, Beverly Barakat granted bail

The attorneys representing high profile real estate attorney Jennifer Messado and real estate broker Beverly Barakat were successful in their bail applications in the St. Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday morning.

Mrs Messado was granted $800,000 bail with conditions, while Mrs Barakat was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.

The matter was heard by Parish Judge Maxine Ellis.

The Clerk of Court informed the judge that C-TOC was opposing bail for Mrs Messado as it might compromise its investigation into other matters.

However, bail was not opposed for Mrs. Barakat.

Mrs. Barakat is being represented by Attorney Pierre Rodgers, while Mrs Messado is represented by Christopher Townsend.

Mrs. Messado, who was charged on Friday, is accused of uttering forged documents, forgery, conspiracy to defraud, causing money to be paid out by forged document, and money laundering.

Mrs Barakat was charged on Monday with conspiracy to defraud and forgery as well as operating a real estate brokerage firm without a licence.

It is alleged that she conspired with Mrs Messado in the illegal transfer of a property.

The women are to return to court on July 3.
