ONE MORE A KARTEL CRONIE DEM GONE A PRISON

VYBZ Kartel co-accused Kahri Jones was found guilty of wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition when he appeared in the Gun Court in the Corporate Area yesterday.

Jones, who faced High Court Judge Lisa Palmer, was convicted for the shooting of Chevallo Rodney in 2009. The incident occurred in Waterford, Portmore, in St Catherine.

Jones’s attorney, Tamika Harris, said she intends to appeal the court’s decision.

“We will be appealing,” she told the Jamaica Observer yesterday. “It will, however, take place after sentencing.”

Sentencing is scheduled for February 22, 2019.

The prosecution, led by Hodine Williams, told the court that on the morning of December 15, 2009, Rodney was in his backyard when he was approached by Jones, who shot him twice. He managed to disarm Jones, who fled the scene, and reported the matter to the police.

The court heard evidence from police personnel. The investigating officer was Jason McKay.

Jones is one of three of Vybz Kartel’s co-accused sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in 2014. According to police, three years earlier, Williams was beaten to death at a house in Havendale, St Andrew owned by Palmer.

Jones will be eligible for parole after 25 years. Vybz Kartel (given name Adidja Palmer) is to serve 35 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole. Entertainer Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell is to serve 25 years, while Andre St John, 30 years.

Vybz Kartel is currently appealing the decision.

His songs include Clarks, Cake Soap, Live We Living, and Romping Shop (featuring Spice).

  1. (Chevallo Rodney) Rodney was subsequently murdered two years ago.

The above is missing from the article.

They think that by murdering the victim, Kahri Jones would have beaten the charge, but this did not happen in this case. Hope the sentence for the new charges run consecutively with the Lizard sentence and he spend the rest of his life in prison.

  2. Marie why, if u know where the body is, how that gonna benefit u. Why u think people care, Jamaica is a 9 day wonder country. Who the hell cares, cartel n his crew were menace to society. All a them fi get lock up that did any wrong doings, I hope them look for others who commit crime in the entertainment fraternity too n send den ass go prison. Too much gunmen hiding behind dancehall music n giving it a bad name . Good riddance of kartel, his crew n others who are guilty.
