Two charged for stealing water from NWC

Two persons were recently charged in Manchester for stealing water from the National Water Commission (NWC).

In a media release yesterday, the NWC said several lengths of pipe were also seized during the operation by its Revenue Recovery team.

Altimont Lindsay of Greenvale Road in Manchester was prosecuted for trespassing on the on the works of the NWC and illegal usage of water.

Lindsay pleaded guilty and was fined $75 thousand when he appeared before the Manchester Parish Court last month.

Chicken farmer Shantee Bartley of Balbec in Prospect is to appear before the court next month to answer to charges of breaches of the Public Utilities Act and NWC Act.

The NWC says during the operation, the Revenue Recovery team removed five illegal connections from an 8 inch main which was serving an entire of section Prospect where the water was being used for farming and domestic purposes.

The team also seized over thirty lengths of 2 inch waste water pipes.
