POLICE SUSPENDED AFTER HIM CUSS JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Cop suspended after expletive-filled tirade

A policeman caught on camera in an expletives laced outburst directed at a Justice of the Peace has been suspended by the Police High Command.

In the near six-minute long video, the policeman is heard hurling expletives and making derogatory comments about a Justice of the Peace as well as current Commissioner of Police Major Antony Anderson.

It remains unclear what sparked the dispute.

Assisstant Superintendent of Police Dahlia Garrick, head of the Constabulary Communication Unit, told RJR News that a probe has been launched to determine the circumstances which led to the incident.

Under the law, the use of any profane, indecent or obscene language publicly can be subject to a fine not exceeding $1500 or imprisonment, with or without hard labour, for a period not exceeding thirty days.

The policeman, who is assigned to the Clark’s Town Police Station, continued to behave unprofessional despite repeated attempts by his colleagues to restrain him.

It’s understood that the policeman’s behaviour has sparked concerns among Lay Magistrates in Trelawny.
