ROADS BLOCKED IN CLARENDON

Representatives of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation are working to clear roadblocks mounted in the parish by taxi men.

The Kemp’s Hill main road and Ally Bridge, Vere road as well as the Lionel Town to Race Course roads have been blocked.

The roadblocks were mounted as the taxi men protested road conditions in the parish. They have also withdrawn their service.

The Clarendon police are monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Clarendon South Eastern Ruddy Spencer has denied claims that delays in repairing the roads are as a result of tensions between himself and MP for Clarendon South Western Noel Arscott.

“No, that could never be a problem for it to be fixed… I am here, this is part of my constituency, and… I am going to the prime minister to explain the position to the prime minister and to report to these people by Friday morning at 11 o’clock,” he promised while advising the taxi operators to “ride it out a little longer” until then.
