MAN WHO KILLED BRANDON MURRAY REMANDED

Twenty-seven year-old Christopher Chambers, the man accused of the murder of Clarendon businessman Brandon Murray, was remanded Wednesday when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court.

His attorney informed the court that he will apply for bail when he returns on October 11.

Mr. Chambers, also known as Chris, a bearer of Waltham Park Road in St. Andrew, was charged last week with conspiracy to murder.

Prosecutors on Wednesday informed the court that cops are still searching for two other suspects in the case.

It is understood that an ex-member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and a taxi operator are being sought.

Investigators believe the ex-soldier is a contract killer, who has been linked to several high profile contract killings.

He was picked up several weeks ago but released after witnesses failed to point him out during an identification parade.

Mr. Murray, who was the proprietor of Murray’s Jerk Centre in Clarendon, was shot dead by gunmen at the Mayfair Hotel on West Kings House Close in St. Andrew on June 10.

Meanwhile, attorneys for the owner of a car which was used in the attack on Mr. Murray have applied for the return of the vehicle.

The car, which is a licenced taxi, was seen in CCTV footage as the getaway vehicle used by the killers.

However, the owner denied any knowledge and has requested the return of his vehicle.

His driver is being sought as a prime suspect.

The parish judge is to hear the application on September 12.
