POLICE CHARGED FOR ASSAULT

he Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says another member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is police constable Jerome Graham, who was arrested, charged and placed before the Manchester Resident Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Reports are that on April 3, 2014, Graham stopped the complainant while he was operating his taxi along Manchester Road in Mandeville. The complainant is said to have complied.

It is alleged that while the complainant was retrieving his documents there was a verbal exchange, which resulted in a tussle between the two.

The complainant was reportedly arrested and escorted to the police station on foot. While being escorted, it is further alleged that the complainant was again attacked.

The accused was today offered bail in the sum of J$300,000 and is to report to the Mandeville Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Graham is also required to surrender his travel documents and a fingerprint order made.

The matter is set for mention on June 3, 2015.

  1. Good! Some of these brutes that are in the Force feel like say that they are above the law, can talk down to people disrespectfully, and do whatever they want to do. Big up to the decent law – abiding cops who live up to the motto of serving and protecting people!
