A man was fatally shot by a policewoman during an attempted carjacking at the intersection of Old Hope Road and Caledonia Avenue in St. Andrew on Tuesday night.
He has not yet been identified.
According to the police, shortly after 9 o’clock, the policewoman was driving her motorcar along Old Hope Road when, on reaching the intersection with Caledonia Avenue, she was approached by two men on foot, one of whom was armed with a rifle.
The man pointed the weapon in her direction and ordered her from the vehicle.
The policewoman pulled her licensed gun and fired in the direction of the men. One was hit, while his accomplice escaped in a waiting motorcar.
The injured man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
