WOMAN CHARGED WITH KILLING HER HUSBAND OFFERED BAIL

Jailbreak

A woman, charged in the stabbing death of her spouse, was offered J$400,000 bail when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court Tuesday.

Attorney Pierre Rogers told the court during a bail application that his client Cassandra Barnes and her deceased common-law husband, Cedrick Grant,

had a dispute about infidelity, and that she did what she had to do.

Reports are that both parties had a dispute on April 30 at approximately 9:00 pm on Luke Lane in downtown Kingston.

Allegations are that during the dispute, knives were brought into play which resulted in both receiving knife wounds.

Barnes reportedly received injuries to her face and both hands while Grant received injuries to his abdomen. Both were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where Grant died while being treated.

Barnes was treated and released into the custody of the police. She is to return to court on July 9 for mention.
